Social media users are currently divided over a tweet posted by a woman named Maia Bittner.

The post, shared on Friday, showed a screenshot of a text conversation between the woman and a man she was meant to be going on a date with.

The first text shows Maia asking if she can cancel the meet-up at the very last minute as something has come up at her work.

She writes: "Hey I'm so sorry to even ask this but how do you feel about a weekend day instead of right now? We just got approval to launch a product and it's happening very quickly."

The unnamed guy's response suggests he's not best impressed with this.

He replies: "Are you joking? I'm showered, ready to go, and had planned my day around this. I understand work comes first, but to pull out this late is pretty disrespectful.

"If you're unable respect me or my time, then I'm over it. Be well."

Maia captioned the screengrab of the texts, saying: "You can truly dodge a bullet with men by inquiring to reschedule a first date day of and seeing how they respond."

The tweet quickly went viral, with more than 12,500 people liking it and hundreds retweeting.

But it quickly became apparent that the post had divided people - with some taking Maia's side in the situation and others thinking the guy reacted appropriately.

"He's a weirdo for the response, but cancelling last minute is a big yikes as well," said one person.

Another wrote: "Yuck. He sounds like an entitled princess."

Someone else posted: "If I had received this cancellation and I had just showered and was getting ready, there would be no rescheduling. How people treat you at the beginning is the best they ever will. The text would have been 'No thanks, but best of luck with the launch.' You both lucked out."

"Sounds like he's the one who dodged a bullet," proclaimed a fourth. "Anyone who would manipulate and lie to you before the very first date is TROUBLE."

Around 3,000 people have replied to the post so far, but it's still not really clear who was being more unreasonable here. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
