Baked tomato slices with tuna and cheese

Let’s make my super-easy baked tomato slices with tuna and cheese. This is the simple starter full of flavour. You can have your guests snack on it as they wait for the main meal during your event. It can also be a meal on its own if you feel like something light and different.

What you’ll need:

10 whole tomatoes

1 onion, diced

2 cans tuna in olive oil

250g cheddar cheese, grated

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon garlic ginger paste

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander for garnish

What to do:

Cut tomatoes into thick slices and arrange them on a flat baking tray. In a bowl, add the canned tuna in olive oil, cayenne pepper, diced onions and garlic ginger paste.

Mix well using a fork so that you can mash the tuna and incorporate everything well. Scoop the tuna mixture onto each slice of tomato.

Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese, ensuring each tomato slice and tuna has a cheese topping. Sprinkle some salt on top and bake in an oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes.

You may have a little bit of liquid in the pan. That’s absolutely fine, just ensure the tomatoes don’t mash. You want to be able to pick a slice and enjoy the flavour. Garnish with some fresh coriander leaves and serve it as a starter or meal.
