Former Blackstar Entertainment director turned political strategist Machel Waikenda is now a minister, MondayBlues has learned.

The youthful TNA youth affairs leader, who is also a former Kenya Airways pilot, landed the lucrative Youth Affairs and Sports minister’s slot in Kiambu Government some few days ago.

And immediately after his appointment, the ambitious Waikenda hit the ground running as he held a number of youth forums — created to give the youth at the county an opportunity to speak to the department on issues pertaining to them.

“The youth forums are an opportunity for the youth of Kiambu County to meet the department of youth affairs and sports and to create discussions on the best way to ensure effective service delivery to them,” Waikenda told MondayBlues during an exclusive interview.

“These discussions will be the focal point when creating draft bills for the county assembly. I will use them to create a forum where the youth can participate in the creation of budgets, systems, structures and policies that will affect them directly,” he remarked.

Waikenda is one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s trusted youthful political strategists and many were hoping that he would land a key post in the current government administration.

But talking to MondayBlues, Waikenda said he had no issues with not having landed a higher position yet, noting that that will happen one day. “I am contented with the role I have been awarded to serve the youth. I am passionate about youth matters. This is my immediate focus,” he reiterated.
