Fibroids may be greatly hormonal and genetic but can be managed through observation of a certain lifestyle. Here are some tips on how to manage fibroids

Balance estrogen

Estrogen may be an important hormone in a woman's body, but having it in excess shoots your risk of fibroids to the top.

Also, it is possible to keep estrogen at bay by losing weight. Obesity and excess weight greatly increase the risk for fibroids. Actually, the fat cells make more estrogen, which means you'll have a higher risk to fibroids. Losing weight may help prevent or slow their growth.

There are also some hormone-disrupting chemicals. They tend to throw off your endocrine balance, raising estrogen levels. These chemicals can be in fertilizers, fire retardants, dyes, paints, some personal care products and some plastics. Limit exposure to them.

Get enough vitamin D

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that may help reduce your risk of fibroids. You can get this through exposure to sunlight.

Some supplements can help raise your levels, along with foods like dairy products, egg yolks, cereals and fatty fish.

Follow a Mediterranean diet

Getting to add more fresh and cooked green vegetables, legumes, seeds, fruits, and fish to your plate is a good Mediterranean diet.

It has been proven over time through research that such a diet lowers your fibroids risk while indulging in a lot of red meat might increase it.

Lower blood pressure

Women with severe fibroids tend to have high blood pressure which should be lowered if you want to similarly lower the risk of fibroids. You can do this by lowering your salt intake, limiting processed foods, exercising regularly, eating more plant based foods to increase your potassium intake as well as using medications to lower your blood pressure.

Cut back on alcohol

With excess intake of alcohol, fibroids can happen because alcohol raises the level of hormones needed for fibroids to grow. Alcohol may also trigger inflammation which is a bad environment for fibroids too, being that one of the signs is having an inflamed abdomen. Limiting your intake of any alcohol will lower your risk a great deal.
