A rash is a reaction whereby the skin develops an abnormal texture and other features which include itching, fluid discharge and pain. This can be caused by allergies, toxins, acne, or infections. The rashes range from the swelling of tissues to an outbreak and a painful eruptive sore. Facial rashes vary in their appearances, location and seriousness depending on the underlying cause.
Below are some of the common causes of facial rashes
1. Contact dermatitis
This is one of the most common causes of rashes on the face. It occurs when the skin gets in contact with foreign substances such as beauty products, soaps, laundry detergents, dyes in clothing, coming in contact with chemicals, rubber, elastic or latex, and touching poison.
2. Medication
Some people react differently with various medications. This is because of allergic reactions, a side effect of the medication while some get the rashes because of the photosensitivity to the medication.
The drug allergies may cause hives which is a generalized swelling of pores of the face.
3. Changing of the pillow case
When you do not change the pillow case, you increases chances of getting facial rashes. This is because of the build-up of oil and dirt on the pillow case. It is then advisable for everyone to change their pillow cases at least after every two days of using them.
4. Chicken pox
It is a virus that creates a skin rash of itchy blisters on the face. It especially common with young children and is normal.
5. Sleeping with make up
When one applies make up, they close the pores on the face hence clogging of dirt. The face therefore does not ‘breath’ and forms rashes.
6. Food
Food is also among the common causes of rashes. Some foods cause rashes or swelling around the lips while others affect the entire face.
It is therefore advised to seek immediate medical attention when you eat particular foods that react with your body.
