Hair problems are unavoidable. It’s impossible to go through life with no issue at all whether we like it or not. Some conditions are definitely more severe than others and some are even caused by underlying medical conditions, which need medical attention.
Aside from those serious conditions, we have some common ones that many women experience at one point. These are some of them accompanied with their solutions.
The braid tensionThere are countless jokes about how hard it is to sleep the night after being braided. It seems normal when in real sense, that shouldn’t happen.
Tight braiding is one of the common causes of traction alopecia which leaves so many of us with bald patches.
Whenever you’re going to be braided, make sure the hair dresser doesn’t fix them too tightly to the point where you’re getting blisters. Blistering and too much tension is not normal.
Traction alopeciaAlopecia from tight braiding is a growing problem in the beauty community. This can permanently damage the follicles which will require you to go for hair transplant. So many topical products offer you accelerated hair growth but they don’t always work.
Save your money and focus on allowing your hair to breathe without the tight wigs and braids. Continue with the good hair care routine to cater to the rest of your hair and let those spots grow in peace because in many cases, the hair grows back on its own.
As the hair there starts to re-grow, use natural products like castor and peppermint oil to strengthen your hair.
Hair breakage after dyeingBefore dyeing your hair at home or at the salon, you have to make sure that your hair is strong enough through treating. There are some hair stylists who aren’t experienced as well so you have to be on guard at all times.
Treating your hair and following the right procedure will prevent severe hair loss. Another way to prevent this is through giving your hair a break from the chemicals.
Bad hair dayThose days where your hair resists all attempts to be styled happens to most people. No amount of product can tame the frizz and you just have to settle on a wig or scarf that day.
A common cause of bad hair days is product build up. All the oils and sprays have saturated your hair which makes it hard to style. A wash day will restore the health of your hair and make it easier to style.
Split endsSplit ends are caused by a number of reasons incusing excess heat use and dryness. The ends of your hair split into sections which can travel down close to your roots causing more damage. The main way of dealing with this is to go for a trim before more damage is done.
TanglingThis is a common thing with natural hair. Since the hair has coils, the strands tend to intertwine. First, don’t force the tangles out roughly when your hair is dry. This will cause your hair to split and break.
Instead, you should moisturize it with water or a detangler before separating the coils with your fingers. If they are too intertwined, separate with a wide toothed comb. You should also keep your hair moisturized and sealed as a preventative measure.
The progress plateauIf after a while you’re not seeing any positive change in the health of your hair, there could be a problem. It could be that the products or routine you’re using isn’t really helping your hair anymore.
Try and do more research on a new product range you can use or any hacks to accelerate your progress. Use them for a couple of months before switching to something else so that you can gauge the effectiveness properly.
