Sheikh Ali Secondary School on Wednesday qualified to represent Mandera County in boys' basketball at the North Eastern Term Two games that start on Saturday in Wajir.

Sheikh Ali narrowly edged out Mandera Secondary School 17-16 in the final at Rhamu Secondary School in Mandera County.

In girls' basketball, Moi Girls Secondary School successfully retained the title after they beat hosts Rhamu 6-4 in a low-key match.

In boys' football, Enboi remained in title contention after they walloped Wargagud Secondary School 4-0 to qualify for today's semi-finals. In another boys' match, Sheik Ali defeated Wargagud 2-1 to also make the last four.

In boys' volleyball, Mandera Secondary School defeated Lafey Secondary School 2-1. In boys' handball, Sheikh Ali defeated Mandera Secondary School 9-3 to sail to the semi-final. The winners will qualify for the North Eastern championships where the winners will sail through to the national games to be held in Nakuru from September 8-13.

Meanwhile, Eastern region games start today (Thursday) at Kangaru High School and University of Embu.

Eastern Secondary Schools Sports Association Secretary Elijah Kiarie said all arrangements have been finalised and schools were expected at the venues Wednesday for accommodation arrangements.

"All arrangements have been finalised and we are looking forward to competitive games," said Kiarie.
