For Custard sauce
What you will need:
1/4 cup custard powder
2 1/2 cups (625ml) milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
What to do:
Combine custard powder and 1/4 cup of the milk in a small jug. Stir until smooth.
Place custard mixture, sugar, cardamom powder and remaining milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until custard comes to the boil and thickens.
Simmer, stirring for 2 minutes and set aside to cool. This will give you 600ml custard sauce.
Strawberry sauce (Homemade Jam)
2 packets Fresh strawberries sliced
350g icing sugar
In a pan over medium heat, add the sliced strawberries and the icing sugar then bring to a boil until bubbles up and thickens well about 5 minutes, set aside to cool.
Let’s assemble.
You will need:
250ml sweetened whipped cream
250g chocolate block cake cubed (store bought)
How to assemble:
Get your dessert glasses and start with the chocolate cake cubes as the base, then pour in the custard sauce over the cake pieces fill about 3/4 of the glass then go in with a good tablespoon of the strawberry sauce you made creating a marble effect over the custard.
Using a piping bag with a star nozzle add in the whipped cream and pipe tall rosettes on the center of each glass then pour some extra sauce on top of the rosettes and finish off with some remaining chocolate cake cubes on the side. Chill in the fridge for 2 hours or so and enjoy the cold dessert.
