Sometimes you just need a protein fix. With the onset of the cold weather and the curfew extension, the prospect of having a barbeque may seem a long way away. Still, this should not prevent you from enjoying a juicy burger made in your kitchen.

1. Mix 500g minced beef, 1 egg (beaten),  1 onion (finely chopped), salt and herbs to your taste. Mould it with your fingers to make four hamburger patties.

2. Do not add hot cooked onions to your raw mince as this will begin to cook the meat, causing dryness. Let the onions cool completely or add them raw.

3. Sear the burger on a high heat for one minute on each side to seal in the juices before cooking further.

4. After searing, cook your burger in the oven at 180 degrees for 9 minutes for a rare burger, 11 minutes for medium and 13-15 for well done.

5. Let your burger rest for a few minutes before serving. This will create an even juicier burger.

What is worse: a fake smile or a grumpy face?
