Police in Kakamega County are looking for an unknown woman who is alleged to have been in the company of a 55-year-old man who was found dead in a room at an entertainment club at Shibuli Trading Centre, Lurambi.

According to sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, who are investigating the bizarre death, on Sunday the woman joined Elijah Mudongo in the club and five hours after he had entered the entertainment joint.

The police said the woman who is much younger than the deceased checked into a room and later left the club under unclear circumstances, only for the body of the man to be found on the floor of the room.

The DCI officer investigating the case told The Standard that they found two used condoms beside the lifeless body of the man.

“We are still doing our investigations, it is true we found the man dead, and beside him were two used condoms, there are rumors by locals and those working in the restaurant that the man was in the company of a woman and she left the room alone later for a restaurant worker to discover the man was dead,” said the investigating officer.

He added, “We also found a look-alike drug which can only be subjected to test by a physician or a medical expert but we will be going to establish whether it has any connection with the death or not and we are also after the woman on the run because the club has no CCTV cameras.”

According to the owner of the Club Velma Achema, the deceased checked into the club on Sunday morning, and five hours later he was joined by a lady who ordered food and later booked a room.

“The deceased was my frequent customer and I know him very well. On the fateful day, he entered the club as usual in the morning hours and after five hours he was joined by a lady,” said Achema.

She added, “The deceased ordered food, and while it was being prepared, they both checked into their booked room.”

Achema said the deceased told one of the waiters that he would remind him when to take the food to his room.

“The deceased said he would say when the waiter took the food to his room because he wanted to have a rest, we became suspicious that it was getting late from 11 am to 7 pm our client was not responding or following up on the food he ordered,” said Achema.

“I told one of my workers to take food to the room, but he was shocked to get the man alone without the lady, and he was lying on the floor. We found two used condoms and saw some tablets like drugs on plain paper, we called the police who came and took away the body.”

The body of the deceased was later taken to Kakamega Funeral Parlor awaiting postmortem to ascertain the cause of the death.

However, locals have called on police to get to the bottom of the matter and find out the cause of the death while urging men to be very careful about the enhancement drugs they use.

“I want to urge the police to establish the cause of the death and they should also arrest the woman who was in the company of the man to help in their investigations, I want to urge my fellow men to be very careful when using certain drugs during love-making, let them follow the doctors advise,” said Hillary Mukhonje.
