The unholy union of gospel dates: Gospel artists dating and living together with prayer partners

Swimming

"He who finds a wife, finds a good thing", so says the scriptures.

However among those in the local gospel industry, where one would expect the adherents to understand this verse more profoundly, too many young people are co-habiting and flaunting their partners in public without a bother to commitment as recommended by the scriptures.

From girlfriend to 'prayer partner', new names keep getting coined for these gospel relationships

'Prayer partner' is the term gospel artistes are using to refer to their girlfriends and boyfriends. Within no time, the 'prayer partners' are all over social media, travelling to exotic destinations after all, who wants to be judged harshly about random relationships and pre-marital sex when you can hide behind that convenient and ambiguous term, 'prayer partner'?

Bahati and Diana Marua

He was the originator of the term, when asked about his blossoming relationship with Diana Marua.

Since Bahati featured her in his video Mapenzi, the two have been dating and their relationship is right now the most talked-about twosome in the country.

Unfortunately, Bahati's white-as-snow image has been soiled by the controversy of a child he sired outside marriage when a hitherto unknown ex-girlfriend- Yvette- popped out of the woodworks

Fans and critics have had a field day of late on social media discussing the affair after drama started last month when Bahati came out claiming the ex-girlfriend's baby was his. Well, the thing is that Diana is said to have also dated Victor Wanyama in the past.

L Jay Maasai and Ashley

A former Groove Male artiste of the year, who also doubles up as an artiste and talent manager, L Jay Maasai jumped onto the 'prayer partner' bandwagon and even asked his girl to plant a big kiss in his cheek, which she gladly did as they posed for a selfie for the whole world to see.

The star has constantly done his best to keep up with the trends in showbiz and while his critics may not be so aggressive in judging him, he seems to be pulling the controversy rope a little too tight.

Most recently he revealed Ashley as his newest artiste, asked fans to follow her on social media and listen to her music. The two are chummy and close friends confirm that they are in a tight relationship.

DK Kwenye Beat and Shanice

After a long hiatus from music, DK is back with new style and swag as shown in his new track Baba Yao that features Masterpiece.

In his comeback interviews, DK's new 'swag' was complete with a twang that left many people wondering whether Khaligraph Jones was his new best friend.

However, unlike many artistes who keep their girlfriends secret, DK often says that he has had a 'prayer partner' for quite a long time and that she really comes in handy whenever they have to release new music because it is often fundamental to pray for new projects and help him through life.

Mr Seed and Nimo

Best friends to Bahati and Diana, these are undoubtedly the cutest gospel couple. The duo has dated for long and the affair is a matter of public knowledge.

Having known each other a while back, Mr Seed who is now rocking the airwaves with his hit song Kumbe met Nimo, a model and upcoming musician, while on a video project and together they have withstood the turbulence of Kenyan showbiz.

According to our close sources, Mr Seed and Nimo have already met each other's parents and are in the process of officially releasing their wedding plans.

Willy Paul and Alaine Singa

When it comes to showbiz, controversy and dating different ladies, Willy Paul takes the cake. After dropping I Do alongside Alaine Singa he went ahead to allude that the two had a thing. Alaine even came out and said she was in love.

"I know the problem is that I didn't show my newlywed wife's face ....Here she is ...Yes! Alaine said yes....Habari ndio hio ...Niko hapa nawacheki tuu najua maoni ni kibao na tofauti ....Legoo.

(Now you know... I am watching you because I know you have a lot to say about this) I know papers and bloggers are going to change the whole story. But you heard it from me. I love you baby Alaine Singa," so did Willy Paul post starting what was to be a month of gospel drama.

The joke ran out of laughs and now, Willy Paul is back to his girlfriend hunt. One is likely to find him teasing his fans with photos of a light skin girl who people compared to Kardashian as well as ladies from the US who he claims are his "sisters".

Those in the know however say that the truth is that this gospel guy is seeing somebody and it's a matter of time before all comes out.

DJ Sadic and Olive Karmen

With their relationship blossoming with the showbiz circles, DJ Sadic is one of the most eligible bachelors thanks to his prowess on the turn tables as well as a show host.

Seeing as he hosts the popular gospel show – Tukuza on KTN and that he has been an MC at many events, the two linked up within their line of work. Olive Karmen is a fast rising drummer whose skill and personality has seen her become a mentor to the local youths and she is doing well in her space.

Mugikuyu and Dee

Well, from her one-time hot flame and musician Clarissa, Mugikuyu seems to have moved on to fellow gospel artiste Dee with whom they have occasionally been spotted together. After the SOC group split up, the members have been clutching at any opportunity to stay relevant and seeing as Dee's music was also not as high ranking as it used to be, the two came together courtesy of the industry.

Perhaps with time they can do music together and capitalise on their gospel rap skills.
