From Ibrahimovic to Ronaldo: Top 10 Euro hotties

Swimming
They are known for their ability to score on the pitch but off it, these ten famous footballers are fashion icons and eye candy that get many female fans weak in the knees

1. Olivier Giroud

The handsome Arsenal striker admitted to admiring David Beckham’s style, even terming it as ‘classy and iconic’. For that reason, he draws inspiration for his looks from the former England captain. He also says that he used to look at Ukranian striker Andriy Shevchenko as a role model for the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch. But besides aspiring to be like the icons, the 28-year-old has a following of his own thanks to his famous quiff.

2. Mesut Özil

In an interview with GQ Style, German midfielder Mesut Özil admitted to taking extra care in the way he looks.

“I bring my own grooming kit to the game – moisturiser, gel and shampoo. I like to take care of myself.” It then comes as no surprise that Paris’ oldest fashion house, Lanvin, noticed that and got into a partnership to be the player’s official tailor.

3. Graziano Pellè

When one walks into a salon and asks for a ‘Pellè’ you know they are not asking to see the Southampton striker but his famous hair style. According to his stylist, Kerri Beale, the player is very picky when it comes to his hair. And when the Italian is off the pitch, he has been described as looking like he is permanently on his way to a casting for the next James Bond movie.

4. Aaron Ramsey

The Welsh midfielder has dominated recent football with his newly dyed blonde locks. After coming out spotting the new hairdo, he got 42,000 likes on Instagram. He is one of the few players who can claim to be signed to a bona fide agency, having joined Elite modelling agency in 2014.

5. Joe Ledley

If the song Classic Man were to be redone, midfielder Joe would definitely be the first pick for his splendid beard that has gained notoriety so much so that his now famous facial hair is dubbed “the most magnificent beard in Wales”, quite rightly has its own Twitter account, which by the way has almost 9000 followers. He has also managed to make his scruffy cardigan and bow tie set his signature look, but in a good way, which is no easy thing.

6. Adam Lallana

While Joe Ledley’s beard is all rough and rugged, Adam’s is carefully crafted. That combined with beautiful voluminous hair style, will have every girl hoping to run their fingers through it. He is among the few men who need not pull off their shirts (though the ladies would not mind) to get the temperatures rising. He looks good in a polo neck; he has impeccable great style.

7. Jérôme Boateng

Boateng was named Germany’s best-dressed man in 2015. His Instagram account has photos of him posing with various different pairs of rare and collectible Nike trainers - thanks to a lucrative sponsorship deal, he owns 650 pairs - and posing alongside the likes of US rapper Ice Cube. Boateng’s style is straight out of the Jay-Z school of dressing. (Read tuxedos with T-shirts and beanies with khaki bomber jackets). He boasts an optical wardrobe so wide it makes Specsavers look poorly stocked. Incidentally, he has a line with Edel Optics, duly hashtagged #DefendYourStyle.

8. Sergio Ramos

The Real Madrid captain’s style can best be described as fearless. There are few men that can pull off double-breasted suits with the swagger of a Soprano, fur line coats, tight black wife-beater over a white hoodie, Gucci belts and leather gloves but I have to confess he does it with flair. Ramos is only one tattoo behind Beckham and is definitely the Golden Balls of the Spanish fashion scene.

9. Cristiano Ronaldo

Thanks to his love for dressing like he is in a boy band (which by the way is totally working for him) Ronaldo’s attracted as much press for his dress sense as he has for his football skills.

But there’s more to him than a diamond stud, slicked back hair and a permanent tan. When he is not playing football, the Portuguese forward is busy running his CR7 fashion empire. Since launching his underwear line, he has branched out into footwear.

10. Zlatan Ibrahimovi?

‘The ‘Ferrari of football’ and ‘Ibracadabra’ were not enough to describe his audacious moves on the pitch. So they got him his own verb – “zlatanera”, meaning “to dominate”. The Swedish striker, who recently launched his training wear brand A-Z is now set to dominate the fashion industry. His collection of well-priced men’s and children wear has been designed in a muted palette of blue, black and grey - the only frill, such as it is, is the minimal logo - a far cry from his own personal, more flamboyant style.
