Stand-up comedian and Lily Singh, known to her YouTube audience as Superwoman, visited Kenya last month for her birthday, courtesy of her Girl Love movement that focuses on girls/women uplifting each other through positive empowerment and curbing girl on girl hate, in partnership with WE villages an initiative based in Kenya that helps communities to sustainably break down barriers and provide access to education.
Superwoman, who was named in the top 10 Forbes richest YouTubers at an estimated $2.5 million, while in Kenya, visited a centre for women who design bracelets for sell in order to earn sustainable income. For the cause, a #GirlLove Rafiki bracelet made at the centre is up for sale at we.org/girllove for $15 a piece and the proceeds will go towards helping Lily's target of providing education to 1500 Kenyan girls.
During her visit, she also toured the Maasai Mara and interacted with School girls and mothers who are working hard to ensure that their children get educated and excel at life. This was an amazing initiative that will change the lives of many girls. She made a video of 'My Life Changing Experience in Kenya', and her excitement and passion for the cause is evident in everything she does, it rings true to her Superwoman signature.
