With two albums, Mamii Neu Kwandanyo (No other like God) and Kararan Chamyet (Love is good) produced in 2007 and last year, Moses Sirgoi (MO) is one of the fastest rising Kalenjin musicians.

This is demonstrated by his nomination in the coveted Groove Awards 2012.

The melodious Kararan Chamyet is a song that portrays Christ’s love as unbeatable; one that cannot be compared to any other on earth. That Christ’s love is a good one.

Interestingly, the song has been one of the most played tracks in weddings and other social functions in the Rift Valley.

The gifted singer, with looks to boot, says he began singing in a Sunday school in 1983 in Kabirer PAG Church in Uasin Gishu District.

His other popular songs are Ongeepchi It Tugetab Jeso (Listen to the voice of Jesus), and Ebiit Wee Choruet (Listen friend), which reminds believers that they should not fear enemies because the battle does not belong to them but to God.

The singer credits Bishop Alfred Lai of Jesus Celebration Center (JCC), Mombasa, as the person who pushed him into discovering his talent.

The bishop encouraged him to join the church’s ‘praise and worship’ team in 1998.

It was here that he met the team director, Pia Lindh from Sweden who also played a big role in moulding his talent through training and practical ministry work.

Joy to worship

The first born and the only son in a family of five, Sirgoi says he chose gospel music as it gives him immense joy to worship God and praise Him in truth and in spirit.

“I get inspiration for my music from the spirit of God and the great worshiper, psalmist, King David and other men and women of God,” he says.

He says he is currently working on his third album, which is better in terms of message and style.

The artiste points out that his songs are born from the prophetic words spoken by great men and women of God.

He says his third album is expected to be released in the first week of December.

“I promise my fans something of a great experience and a real touch of God. One of the upcoming songs is, Kongoi Baba, a blend of Kalenjin, Swahili and Zulu, and No More Delay, a song born out of a prophetic message,” he says.

He recalls singing in a wedding of his friend, Kevin Yabaan from USA where he went out of his way and prophesied through a song that the couple would have twins. And this later came true.

“I received news later that they had been blessed with two handsome boys, as one of the highest points of his rare gift of singing and prophesying,” he says.

As the country approaches the next General Election, the singer urges Kenyans to maintain peace and pick godly leaders who have great vision of moving this country to righteousness and prosperity.
