Lillian Muli not my lover, says Shabana boss

Shabana FC club chairman Jared Nevaton has sharply reacted to social media reports and photos going round insinuating that he and TV siren Lillian Muli are an item.

“We are just friends. I got her an invitation to the Leopard’s gala night in my capacity as a life member of AFC,” said Nevaton while clarifying that he is the one who was with Lillian that evening.

Nevaton also refuted claims that he and Lillian locked lips saying, “Where on earth is that from? These are just people trying to blow this whole thing out of proportion, I was not the only one given cakes. It was a celebratory moment in line with ‘Ingwe’ at 50.”

According to the Shabana boss, a section of the press is just out to tarnish his name.

“Invitations were made based on table reservations and since I had reserved a table I had every right to come with as many friends as I could so. I got her an invitation and we both attended as friends of AFC,” said an irritated Nevaton.

Lillian Muli breathed fire, asking what would be the motive behind ‘such a story’ when The Nairobian called her for comment.

“Why should you even think of this as a story? I don’t need anybody to defend me so, and I don’t need to comment because to me it’s a non-issue. What interest is it to anyone if I attended an AFC Leopards dinner?” she posed.

“Can you respond to every mad man in the market? I am an AFC Leopards fan just like any other football fan and I love Kenyan football. I see nothing wrong in attending an event for a local football club because I could also be helping the club in other professional ways,” added Lillian.

Reports from bloggers online had earlier indicated that, Lillian on realising that she had been caught by paparazzi, decided to leave in a huff leaving her handbag behind.

But Nevaton refuted the allegations, saying, “She did not leave me with her bag. I remained behind in discussions with other stakeholders in football. As a chairman of Shabana FC, I have to engage with other likeminded persons.”

Shabana FC, a Kisii based club that was once revered locally, has since rebranded and is now on the throes of regaining its lost glory. Nevaton says that the club decided to move their training base to Nairobi to recruit new talent as the Gusii Stadium undergoes a facelift.
