These girls worked their magic on our TV screens, proving they deserved a spot in the limelight. But their season came and went.

Esther Arunga

Who can ever forget Esther Arunga? The TV goddess was destined for greatness; she was not only beautiful, but intelligent, with presentation skills that had Kenyans pitting her as the next big thing on prime time television. But in 2010, she gave it all up. She is now a mother, and married to the controversial Quincy Timberlake. And she shows no signs of ever returning to television.

Brenda Mwai

Making her debut in Tahidi High, her career was set in motion when she later became a co-host on Str8up. The actress would move on to have her own morning segment at KTN, hosting the Morning Rise entertainment show.

After leaving KTN last November, she is working on personal projects as she waits for other opportunities.

“I’m going back to acting as I plan to come back to TV,’’ says the girl whose wedding is only a few weeks away.

Misiko Andere

Her laid back personality and grace made her a morning show favourite host. Hitting our TV screens for the first time as an Art Scene presenter on KTN, her elegant hairdos, pretty smile and eloquence made her stand out. Afterwards, she switched to NTV, where she had a brief stint in news. And then she vanished. Misiko, where are you, for crying out loud?

Nancy ‘Namtero’ Mdee (Tero)

Tero was a media force to be reckoned with. She had not only conquered the airwaves with her late night show on Homeboyz Radio, but her successful move to television proved she was a versatile media personality, a fete few can brag about.

Her melodious voice, fashion sense and pretty face glued many to the screens on KTN’s Str8up. She was so good that she bagged the trophy for the Best Teeniez VJ and Presenter at the Chaguo la Teeniez awards in 2010, barely a year after the show premiered. In 2011, her show won for the Teeniez Hottest Music TV Show.

Then, two years ago, without warning, she packed her belongings and moved back to Tanzania. She quit both radio and television, and is now married to Prophet Hebron Kisamo of Calvary Temple Church in Arusha. Hearbreak!

Anita Nderu

The screens loved this one, and with proper grooming. She would probably have been the next ‘It Girl’ on television, but last year, she decided to take a new career path.

She made her debut on our screens on Teen Republik, and create a huge fan base, but she left it all behind to join the news team on Capital FM. Her TV fans still miss her. Since she left, the show has not been the same.

Tamima

She came, saw and conquered. The former Insyder beauty went on to become one of Str8up’s most memorable presenters. But after two years, she claimed to have outgrown the show, and sought new assignments. In this quest, she took over the Morning Rise show.

Rumours of getting a higher position flew as she became yet another missing face on TV. Well, Tamima simply scaled the heights and landed herself a role as the head of KTN’s Channel Programmes Acquisition Department. She has not ruled out going back on the screen though.

Maureen Muhia

Starting out as a social media administrator at Easy FM, the fashion blogger then landed a role as a co-host in the Teen Republik show, filling in Anita’s shoes. However, she left the show a few months later. As speculation of poor pay hit the rumour mills, the petite beauty refused to divulge any information with regard to her leaving the show last year in December.

After tackling the fashion segment of the show, the fashionista disappeared like vapour before our eyes, and is nowhere to be seen or heard of on the airwaves.
