Mini Skirt Trends In Nairobi

On the one hand, little number has caused women to be stripped for indecent exposure while on the other; it has worked wonders for some. Women love these little fashion items for personal and obvious reasons but unfortunately, some have taken it too far while others totally oppose this great work of fashion. Like every item of fashion, this one requires some art in wearing it.

The now barely legal

You can pick these girls out anywhere from how they can’t handle their alcohol, their loud attention-seeking behaviour and the unnecessary short skirt — not enough to leave anything to imagination. They make the miniskirt look cheap and trashy, which they are bound to do, especially after taking one too many and the urge to do some sensual dance takes over.

The classy dresser

Then, of course, you always have these refined ladies who know how to work a mini-skirt, hot pants, low tops… you name it. You’ve probably seen her at an invite-only event, the club, the ‘hood or even at the office. She carries herself with confidence, elegance and commands respect from how she works it without trying too hard, only showing enough and leaving some mystery.

The theocrats

In a neighbouring country, ‘Indecent’ clothing “any attire, which exposes intimate parts of the human body, especially areas that are of erotic function”, are outlawed. Mini-skirts are under attack from an aptly named minister of ethics and integrity who came up with a new anti-pornography law that would heavily fine the ‘guilty’ or jail them for up to ten years, or both.

Lost high schoolers

Back in high school, the senior girls would borrow your skirt, which on her would be short and tight, just as desired. One would have been forgiven for thinking this is not a priority area, until you remember the secondary school girls who chose to go on strike and even drew a ministerial statement!

Free from inhibitions

Some even consciously go out without wearing underwear beneath the miniscule skirts. A few shots of tequila later, and they somehow start dancing provocatively or chew a blackout on a seat or floor. A popular actress will relate to this, after she tried to jump over a metal barrier, one leg after another, with a curious photographer in the vicinity.

Trend copycats

This type just takes what they see off magazines and fashion runways, and rock them without thinking twice. Someone please tell these girls there’s high fashion, haute couture, pret-a-porter or ready to wear and mass wear.  Some are made for movies, musicals and other purposes not for mass wear. So think twice and if you’re not sure, ask before you end up on fashion cop.

In questionable business

You will see them parading themselves in dark street corners wearing skirts so short, it could pass for a belt. Some care less and invade rave joints in hoards acting all slutty to get any attention.
