Adele snubs Band Aid 30 – A project hoped to raise millions to help battle the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Adele snubbed Sir Bob Geldof today after being invited to join the line-up for Band Aid 30.

The Someone Like You singer was contacted by the Boomtown Rats frontman to join the likes of One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin who were recording the hit song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" with dozens of stars in London today.

But she was notably absent at the recording studio and Sir Bob admitted he tried to contact her but couldn't get her to commit to the project, which is hoped to raise millions to help battle the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

When asked why Adele wasn't taking part, Bob told The Sunday Mirror: "I got through to someone, not her, but she’s not doing anything at all at the moment. Its fine, I understand it’s not for everybody and other people support in different ways.”

He insisted: "I put the call in. I didn't speak to her. I spoke to Jonathan (her manager) and he says, 'I can't speak to her. I try but she won’t pick up the phone'."

Bob silenced a studio of the world’s biggest musical stars at yesterday's Band Aid recording with a heartbreaking emotional speech, warning: "This is so much bigger than us."

The rousing welcome saw A-listers including Coldplay’s Chris Martin, One Direction, Bono, and Ellie Goulding deeply moved as the veteran campaigner told of the plight of those in Ebola-ravaged West Africa.

The Sunday Mirror joined stars in the iconic studio for the awe-inspiring recording session, where Bob told stars: “Today you join Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd and all those other people who at one time have done something for Band Aid.”

He later added: "That pulls them back to say, 'How did I get here?'. They think, Jesus I've got to do this now, but this is the thing that rallies the country and that helps to stop this filthy disease.

"One Direction nailed it. They sound great. It's a very moody track this time. The producer, Paul Hepworth, said to them try and whisper into it and they had never whispered so much, but they were really good."

We're sad Adele never turned up but at least the 1D boys did Bob proud.
