Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga has accused Deputy President William Ruto of making empty election promises.

Addressing rallies in Gilgil and Naivasha, Nakuru County, yesterday, Raila said Ruto has nothing new to offer Kenyans. He noted that in 2013, learners were promised laptops which were never delivered while stadiums have never been constructed.

“He is promising youth and women billions, but all those are empty promises,” he said.

The Azimio presidential candidate was accompanied by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli, businessman Suleiman Shahbal, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, former UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi, Jubilee Nakuru senatorial candidate Lawrence Karanja, ODM senatorial candidate John Mututho and former minister Stephen Tarus.

Raila promised that Azimio government will focus on economic liberation and address the high cost of living.

He defended the social protection programme targeting to give Sh6,000 monthly stipend to vulnerable families saying experts approved it and he knows where he will get funds to implement the same.

The Azimio presidential candidate called for six-piece voting pattern, saying without foot soldiers opponents will frustrate his agenda. He said the dream of the founding fathers is yet to be achieved due to looting of public funds.

“We will deliver and we know where we will get the funds. It is possible,” he said.

Raila warned his competitors against trashing his election promises saying it has nothing to do with them. He called on Anthony Ngure of ODM and Eng Ndegwa Nguthiru of Jubilee, who are eyeing MP seat in Naivasha to agree on who will fly the Azimio flag. Raila directed governor Kinyanjui to spearhead the talks and give him a response.

“Today sit down, talk. Lee spearhead the sitting. I need a report tomorrow. Whoever will drop out of the race in favour of the other, I will offer him a job at the national government,” he said.
