A Brazilian gang leader tried to escape prison by dressing up as his 19-year-old daughter.
Clauvino da Silva, known as "Shorty", attempted to flee the western part of Gericino prison wearing a mask and women's clothing on Saturday.
His 19-year-old daughter paid a visit to her father during the planned con, intending to stay in his jail cell to buy her father time for his escape.
Police are looking into her possible role as an accomplice.
Da Silva was caught trying to flee the prison wearing a silicone mask, a long dark-haired wig, spectacles, tight jeans and a pink T-shirt with printed cartoon doughnuts.
However, his nervousness gave him away and he was caught in the act.
Rio's State Secretary of Prison Administration released photos of him wearing the disguise, along with a video showing him removing his clothes and saying his full name.
He will now be transferred to a maximum-security prison and will face disciplinary sanctions, officials said.
Da Silva was part of the leadership of the Red Command, one of the most powerful criminal groups in Brazil that controlled a large portion of drug trafficking in Rio de Janeiro.
Clauvino has been in prison since 2013, when he was sentenced to 73 years and 10 months.
