A secondary school principal is nursing injuries he sustained after being assaulted by his KCSE candidates for allegedly feeding them sugarless porridge in Homa Bay County.
Mr Collins Omondi, the Principal of God Bura Secondary School in Suba Sub-county, is still recuperating from injuries sustained from the ugly incident.
Omondi was attacked on Friday when the learners were agitating against what they termed as poor feeding in the school.
Things, however, escalated after the students claimed they could not contend with sugarless porridge.
The students reportedly ordered the principal to accompany them to Magunga Police Station so they could record statements in his presence.
But the principal declined to comply. This made them pounce on him with kicks, blows, and crude weapons. It forced some parents who heard the commotion to rush to the school and rescue the teacher.
The teacher was later rushed to Magunga Level Four Hospital for medical care. Suba Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association Chairman Paul Mbara condemned the incident.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kinne confirmed the incident, noting that the Ministry of Education was handling it.
