Sean Andrew, grandson to the late President Mwai Kibaki, recently talked about the struggles he goes through as a commercial model.

During an interview on Flo & Frens YouTube channel, he recalled losing an advertising job because he looked too cute.

"I did the final audition and I was in. The day before the shoot I was called by the agent who was very hesitant and she was like, 'I don't know what to tell but the feedback I have gotten was that you are too cute for the advert'.

She said they wanted someone more mature and I looked a bit childish," said Andrew.

Andrew said he was not pleased by the cancelation since he was looking forward to the advertisement which had a handsome reward.

"I just remember being so upset, I threw my phone into a bush and I was just so annoyed. I saw the ad and some of the models on it were my friends though they didn't know they had replaced me. I was a bit salty," he said.

The negative thoughts weighed on him and he thought of quitting modelling altogether. He, however, moved on after realising that rejection is painful but it is just a no.

This is not the first time the photographer-cum-commercial model has talked about his struggles online.

In 2019, Andrew candidly spoke about his mental health issues and battles with depression and anxiety.

He said losing loved ones when he was young made him suffer mentally and developed suicidal thoughts at some point.

"I have struggled with mental health issues and depression in the past. I have lost people close to me and the fact that I was bullied a lot contributed to the depression that I went through. When I lost my maternal grandfather when I was 13 years old, I went through depression and it got so bad that I wanted to take my life at some point."

Andrew said his grandfather meant a lot to him and his death attracted a lot of mistreatment from many people.

"Being in that place where I had a lot of things bottled up in me and given the fact that I was almost kidnapped when I was a kid, being bullied and now I had lost the only person I was close to, it sent me to a dark place," he said.
