Speaker Moses Wetangula raises Sh10 million for education

NEWS
A section of leaders from the Western region of Kenya have rallied stakeholders to improve the quality of education in the region. The leaders are equally sensitizing parents and students against cases of early pregnancy, which is rampant in the region.
While marking Education Day in Bumula Constituency, stakeholders in the sector joined National leaders in a well-attended and colourful celebration as the leaders took stock of their journey and reflected on last year's examination performance in the region. The leaders who included National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, PS State Department of Industrialisation Dr. Juma Mukhwana, and legislators Jack Wamboka and Didmus Barasa among others called for pragmatic strategies by parents, religious groups, and the administration to push for 100 per cent school enrolment.
During the event dubbed 'To invest in people, prioritize education,' Speaker Wetangula underscored the unity and cooperation amongst the Mulembe leaders that continues to attract the fruits of development in the region. On his part, the host legislator Bumula's Jack Wamboka was elated to have held the inaugural forum with education stakeholders and provided constituents with recommendations to pursue a united front to bring remarkable improvements in the sector.
"We will continue to push for key interventions including scholarship programs, resourcing schools, and the newly integrated lunch programs for candidates to motivate learners," he said. PS Dr Mukhwana encouraged stakeholder forums to complement school developments in terms of infrastructure and bursaries.
"These have helped us resolve perennial problems and resuscitate the sector which was dwindling to a downfall," he said.
Speaker Wetang'ula donated Sh5 million each to St Peter's Siboti and Nang'eni girls for a computer laboratory and a dormitory. The School Equipment Production Unit (SEPU) delivered science kits while the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) brought books. Wanami Wamboka Foundation also handed over 50,000 menstrual cups to school girls.
