A 22-year-old man who was busted cutting barriers to access the Nairobi Expressway was arrested by police. Sam Abong'o was charged with willfully and unlawfully cutting the welded barriers belonging to Umoja Expressway with the intent to access the highway on June 26.
Abong'o was busted around the Cabanas matatu stage in Nairobi. When he appeared before Makadara court, Abong'o pleaded guilty to charges of sabotage.
It is stated that police officers guarding the expressway received information that there was a suspect cutting the barriers.
And when they arrived at the scene, they found Abong'o using a handsaw to cut the rails and arrested him.
He was arrested and escorted to the police station for further probe.
When he appeared in court, the accused pleaded to the charge but the court directed that he be remanded in custody until August 1, 2023.
That day, the prosecution is expected to table the facts before he is convicted and sentenced.
Reportedly, the accused had previously been arrested inside the expressway and pardoned and released with a warning.
