Popular content creator Zakaria Kariuki aka KK Mwenyewe, who has gained popularity for mimicking Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has reached out to his fans for support to clear his fee balance.
KK, who is pursuing Applied Computer Science at Kisii University, said the institution has asked all students to clear their balances by end of October but his parents are not in a position to raise the required amount.
Speaking to Standard Entertainment, KK said his current balance is Sh10,900 and he is afraid that he might have to defer his studies if help does not come his way.
"I am a third-year student at Kisii University and we have been asked to clear our balances by October 30, 2022.
"At the moment, my parents are not in a position to raise the Sh10,900 that I need and do not want to defer my studies," he said.
Adding: "I would like to complete my studies and graduate. That is my main goal at the moment. I am passionate about acting and maybe I will go full throttle after school but my focus is on finishing my undergraduate programme."
KK became an instant hit online with his near-perfect imitation of DP Gachagua. His pages have grown steadily and he boasts of 30,000 followers and 13,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram respectively.
Recently, Kenyans on Twitter asked the DP to reward the comedian with a job after he offered Ivy Chelimo, the woman behind the nickname 'Riggy G', a position in his office.
Gachugua had acknowledged that his full name could be a mouthful for some people and that the nickname Riggy G sounded more pleasant.
"The young lady watched me during the deputy presidential debate with Martha Karua [Azimio la Umoja running mate] and thought my name was a bit difficult.
"She then decided to make it a little melodious and crafted Riggy G. I have looked for her and awarded her a job opportunity in my office," said Gachagua while presiding over an event marking the World Food Day in Kajiado County on Monday, October 17, 2022.
Chelimo was thankful to the DP for the opportunity, adding that she believes he (Gachagua) has the interests of the youth at heart.
