Singer, dancer, and entertainer Brandy Maina took to her Instagram to advise fellow artistes to get legal teams and take music business and Intellectual Property seriously.
The singer, who came into the limelight after her Danger Dinji song featuring Movaz Warombosaji went viral earlier this year seems to be facing some legal troubles behind the scenes.
“Having a good manager is so good, but a legal team is everything. I want that for every upcoming artiste. People out here steal from your ignorance,” she said.
The singer has been one of the privileged artistes doing shows regularly, with the pandemic choking multiple opportunities for artistes to earn bookings revenues.
“Know how to safeguard your intellectual property. It is a high time we change the operations of this industry” said the Kubali singer.
She urged artistes to draw boundaries and have agreements in written form.
“Always remember to do splits before leaving the studio, especially when collaborating with a new artiste. Do not think everyone is your friend,” she said.
