Singer Chidinma ‘Kedike’ Ekile switches to gospel.

Just days after revealing that she has switched from secular to gospel music, Nigerian singer and award winner, Chidinma Ekile also known as Ms. Kedike, has a word of encouragement. In an Instagram post, Ms. Kedike encouraged her followers to always turn to God whenever things go south.

"You can lack a shoulder to lean on, but you will never lack a ground to kneel and pray," she wrote.

Her message comes barely a week after she announced that she has rebranded and ditched the secular world for the gospel industry. The singer has been low-key for a while, with many of her fans inquiring about her whereabouts.

She took to her Instagram account to announce that she is now a minister of the gospel and a servant of Jesus Christ. She also released a new song titled 'Jehovah Over Do'.

Ms Kedike, who is better known for her award-winning Afropop song "Kedike," made the announcement as she celebrated her 30th birthday.

“My name is minister Chidinma Ekile. I'm a crusader of the gospel of Jesus. I'm a crusader of the gospel of Jesus Christ," she captioned a video reel that shows her singing gospel music.

It is believed that she is now signed to Eezee Concepts - home to Gospel superstar Mercy Chinwo.

In 2010, Ms. Kedike rose to continental fame after winning the Project Fame West Africa as a 19-year-old. Afterward, she released her debut single, 'Jankoliko' featuring veteran star Sound Sultan.

According to Pulse Nigeria, she then signed to iLLBliss and Clarence Peters' record label, Capital Hill/Goretti Company, and became a West African sensation with the single, 'Kedike.'

She also released other singles like 'Emi Ni Baller,' which won Best Video at the 2014 Headies.

At the 2012 edition of the KORA Awards, Chidinma won Best Female West African Act. She was also nominated for Best Female Act at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.

She was born blind

In 2019, Ms. Kedike, in an interview with Guardian, revealed she was born blind. She further stated that she would love to be seen more as someone who does a lot for visually-impaired kids and young people as she can relate to their situation.

"I was born blind. I just couldn't see for some months. Since I sang about it, I felt the need to help kids that find themselves in such situations or even worse. So every time I travel to these places, I try to extend a hand of love to these children," she said.
