Though some fans think what happened nearly 12 months ago was the first sign of the troubled times ahead. It is fast approaching a year since Kanye and Kim were exposed after his phone call to Taylor Swift was heard by the world. The infamous conversational about the rapper's song Famous was leaked in full – and we all found out the truth. So much has changed of course after it was revealed earlier this month the superstars are to call it a day. Fans will look back at the March 2020 revelation as evidence that things were not always stable – despite supporting each other in the row.

The rapper, 43, and pop star became embroiled in a feud after Kanye and wife Kim claimed that Taylor, 31, agreed to be called a 'b**ch' in his song Famous. He also sung about how he is the reason she is a household name. It quickly to light that the Kardashian-West's did not tell the whole truth in the 2016 call – as the full 25-minute conversation between Swift and West has been leaked online.

The chat took place before the release of Kanye’s track Famous, where he sings: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**ch famous God damn. I made that b**ch famous.”

Taylor and Kanye's row goes back to when he invaded the stage while she was picking up an award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009.

When the song was released the year before, Taylor said she was not keen on the disrespectful lyrics. In response, Kim became involved and leaked a snippet of a phone call and claimed that Taylor knew all along the song words – but it was not the whole story.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star then labelled her a 'snake' which led to Swift being trolled online which became so bad that she decided to take a break from social media. The 2020 footage revealed that Kanye did present song lyrics to the Love Story hitmaker but he neglected to mention that he was going to call her a 'b**ch*' and claim he made her a star.

Hitting back on Instagram at the time, Taylor wrote: “You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world. He promised to play the song for me, but he never did.”

In light of the recording being leaked for all to hear, Kim and Kanye received major backlash online. The two music stars have had a stormy relationship since 2009, when Kanye interrupted her acceptance speech for best female video at the MTV Music Awards. Grabbing her microphone, West objected to the award, saying Beyonce's Single Ladies video deserved the prize more than Swift's You Belong With Me.

"Taylor Swift, I'mma let you finish," he said, in a clip that's become one of music's most recognisable memes, "but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"

Taylor has meanwhile announced that she is cancelling a series of tour dates that were previously postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. In an apologetic statement posted on her website, the star says she "can't wait 'til we can safely be at shows together again".

She told her fans: "It's not my favourite thing in the world to have to tell you news I'm sad about. I'm so sorry, but I cannot reschedule the shows that we've postponed. This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone's plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future. Although refunds have been available since we first postponed the Lover Fest shows, many of you hung onto your tickets and I too hung onto the idea that we could reschedule."
