Simi celebrates husband on anniversary in sweet post

Nigerian singer and songwriter Simi Wednesday honoured her husband Adekunle Gold as her soulmate in a sweet post celebrating their second wedding anniversary. Taking to her Instagram account to heap praise on the award-winning Nigerian highlife songbird and designer, Simi said she is blessed to have him as a husband after seven years of dating for he is good person, dotting father and the best partner she could ever wish for.

"Well, 2 years on government paper and 7 years since I gree for you, you lucky man. Through a pregnancy. With a baby, we're both unashamedly obsessed with. Through a pandemic. And it's still you. I've never had to wonder if you're in my corner. You're still the best man I know. You should have been your own best man (don't leave me),” wrote the mother of one.

“One of my favourite things about you is that you're a really, really good person. I like you a lot. I'm so proud to know you and be your wife. I pray that God continues to be the foundation of our marriage and home. I love you Kunle Kosoko. Now, forever and one extra day, and then another, and then another, and then another...Happy Anniversary baby. PS: My wedding was totally the best wedding party I've ever been in my life. Lol."

Tow which Gold, adoringly responded: “I look back to the first day I met you. I had just left the office, so excited that you had finally given me the audience to see you. This local boy put on a white byc vest and a pair of new lilac pants bought specially for the occasion; I even made sure I was there earlier so I had front row seats.”

Adding: “I watched you talk, sing, laugh and dance and Omo I knew that very day that I wanted to be in your life. I knew that day that I wanted my forever to be you. Here we are, all three of us, talking, dancing, singing, laughing, and doing this called life together. With you, I have been blessed with so much, so much, it’s too much to count. I love you Simi. Forever your steward."

Opening up about motherhood, Simi in late 2020 said giving birth to her daughter, Deja, was the happiest and most fulfilling moment of her life, save for jittery episodes following the surge in coronavirus cases in the United States of America (USA) where she and husband were holidaying when the pandemic hit.

“We didn’t know there was going to be a lockdown. We went for holidays… We were there enjoying our lives when the lockdown hit. There was a lot of paranoia from me o. See even on a good day without Covid, I’m very paranoid and always careful hmmm. I’m the paranoid one in the family and I think I was getting on everyone’s nerves at one point. I was also pregnant, so I knew my immunity was down and that I had to be careful. But largely, I wasn’t really going anywhere except checkups and stuff. So the risks were sort of limited. But then, I didn’t really want to take those chances at the time,” the singer told Pulse.

The honey-voiced songbird who is riding her with her 2020 smash hit Duduke went on, “I love being a mom. As soon as you know you want a child, you have baby fever when you see a cute baby. I love being a mom to Deja because she lights up my entire existence and I genuinely look at her and my heart melts. I love staying up through the night and taking care of her and playing with her. I mean it also means I don’t have as much time for maybe music at this time, but who wouldn’t want to spend time with this bundle of joy? Just look at her…"

"It can be crazy sometimes. Some women go through post-partum depression and that’s not funny. There are lots of hormonal changes involved in this process. Some women have even had to miss or quit their jobs. I’m just lucky enough that I’m my own boss, but there are mothers who are also models and their livelihood depends on how they look. There are lots of complexities,” she added.
