Dancer and socialite Zodwa Wabantu is in 2021 rolling up her sleeves and venturing into agri-business. The South African personality, who gained notoriety in 2017 for her raunchy dance moves, risque outfits and fast-lane lifestyle, is trying her hands at poultry farming and shared photos of one of her chicken's housing systems. "Your Zodwa Wabantu chicken business,” she captioned.

Speaking to the Daily Sun, Wabantu said she was securing her future with the investment. “We don’t know what the future holds for artists, and I don’t want to be broke. That’s my biggest fear. I had to be proactive and think of other ways to make money. My business will be based in Mpumalanga. But for now, while I’m in Joburg, I’ll be selling from the back of my car. I sell the chickens for R150 and a tray of 30 eggs costs R50. I’ll be adding more tray sizes as time goes by.”

Opening up about investments in a 2018 interview with Drum, the Soweto native said she owns apartments in South Beach, Durban and an undeveloped piece of land in Mpumalanga, east of South Africa, that she was mulling to build a supermarket in.

“I have already bought the land that I will live on. This land is for pushing my business, I’ll see whether I open a shisanyama, theatre or a cinema. I’ll see what I’ll do on the land, maybe I could even open a supermarket. I opened the flats and rented them out to students as student accommodation. This creates profits for me. For example, if I get to Durban and I get a two-bedroom apartment, I will lease it for R4200 and get nine students who’ll pay R1000 each to stay in the apartment. From that R9000, I’ll pay the R4200 for the lease and get the rest of the money as profit,” she told Drum.

In November 2020, the controversial entertainer who reportedly rakes in money from her ventures in perfume, lipstick and petroleum jelly products disclosed that she was launching her own premium cider brand. “Get paid for being an artist after invest in your name,” she posted.

Wabantu went on to disclose to Times Live that the investments were crucial building blocks for her rising empire. “Since I launched my perfume range, I have had this big idea for a beauty collection. These are just some of the ranges in the collection. I have so much. I want to release still, like body lotion, mascara, nail polish and other products. We are going level by level, like the lockdown,”
