A very challenging start to the year for Mungatana and the former K24 anchor, who during her 37th birthday, said she survived a road accident in early 2020 and contracted Covid-19 shortly after she lost her news anchor job. "I started having a fever, coughs, breathing complications and this prompted me to seek medical services. After getting tested for Covid-19, the results turned out to be positive. I believe this was a sign from God to take better care of myself," shared the celebrated media personality.
"My father was worried that the virus could spread within the family, but to his surprise, within two weeks I had completely recovered. This year, though, it's different from other years. It has been tough as I've faced challenges, I have been tested and found myself in situations that I thought I would never be. During the beginning of the year, I survived an accident in Nairobi that saw my car lose control and veer off the road. The car was left a mangled wreck but thank God I lived to tell the tale,"
Opening up about her relationship with the former assistant minister, Chidzuga said he is a dotting husband and pillar. "#Mumewangumzuri you are 50yrs old today. Thank you for being my pillar of strength the love of my life and for your unconditional support. We love you and cheers to the next chapter of your life. One day will tell our story Inshallah. Much Blessings #50looksgoodonyou," she posted in celebration of Mungatana’s birthday.

She went on to tell off critics who castigated her for ‘sharing her husband with former Miss Kenya and anti-jigger crusader, Cecilia Mwangi.’
“Kindly note that I Mwanaisha Chidzuga was never a co-wife to one Cecilia Mwangi. Please stop dragging my name and that of my family into this madness. Hapa mapenzi tu...wenya shingo za feni jipeni shughuli ((It’s all about love here... haters should find something better to do ),” Chidzuga captioned a selfie of her with Mungatana. “Nothing can shake the love that God has given us as a family. What is being said outside will never shake, change or affect me. We shall continue to raise our family as God continues to give us strength,” she later told The Nairobian.
