One of Floyd Mayweather's boxing prodigies has died after getting shot in the United States. Danny Gonzales, who trained and fought under Mayweather Promotions, was with two other men when someone approached the group and opened fire. Police were called to the incident in Moreno Valley, California where they found three men with gunshot wounds. Gonzalez died at the scene while the other two men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Riverside County Sheriff's Dept said officers were called out shortly after 9 pm on Monday following a "report of an assault with a deadly weapon."
A police report read: "Deputies arrived within minutes and located three male victims with gunshot wounds. One adult male succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and two minors were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."
Gonzalez's death has seen tributes pour in from friends and fellow boxers. Mayweather led the tributes, saying: “R.I.P Danny Gonzalez. R.I.P champ gone but never forgotten."

The undefeated boxer had always believed in Gonzales and spoke of his happiness when he signed him as an 18-year-old.
"There are certain times when you know you've just struck gold and this is one of them!" he wrote in a social media post.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said: "We are very sad to report the tragic death of boxer and top prospect, Danny Gonzalez. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to the Gonzalez family at this hard time. May Danny rest in eternal peace."
Boxer Andy Vences said: "As the close ones know Danny was going through hard times trying to find his way back into boxing. We connected on a deep level just a year ago. Danny was always trying to find his way back into the sport of boxing. When things get hard, think of Danny and don't give up. Too young and too talented…..RIP kid and condolences to the family."
Gonzales last professional fight was in Sacramento, California in 2017. He made his debut with Mayweather Promotions in October 2016 where he defeated Sean Acosta at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall.
