A dad has shared a simple trick to help babies fall asleep instantly which has proved a viral sensation with six million hits. Austin Miles Geter, from Dallas, posted a clip to Facebook showing how he sends new born baby daughter Charlie to sleep without any fuss.

While rocking his little girl she continues to cry until he begins gently rubbing her eyebrows and within seconds she nods off. Since posting the video to Facebook on August 26, Austin has received praise from other parents who have vouched for his method. In the video - which he captioned "This trick actually worked really well. She was OUT" - he is seen holding Charlie upright with his hand resting under her chin as he rocks her back and forth.

"So here we are, she keeps crying because I keep having to change positions but I know she’s sleepy," he says. But I heard if you gently rub their eyebrows they go to sleep.

"So I’m going to try it."

With one finger he gently rubs one of her eyebrows and she immediately becomes drowsy, before seeming to momentarily perk up again before dropping off. A pleased Austin punches the air as she goes to sleep. In the comments, one person wrote: "She is so cute, and I rubbed all three of my boys eyebrows and it worked on them."

"Tried it on my youngest and it worked, also loved between the eyebrows and down nose," said another.

A third wrote: "Wish I knew that trick 17 years ago when my daughter was a beautiful little nugget!"

And it doesn’t just work on newborns.

One parent added: "My son's four, will be five in March, and the eyebrow trick still works."

Austin has previously posted other videos of himself with Charlie, including one in which he sends her to sleep singing popular songs from TikTok. In another he tells her to give her "most fiercest war cry".
