The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2020 (VGMA 2020) took place despite several setbacks caused by the outbreak of coronavirus, with the African Giant Burna Boy flying away yet again with the African Artiste of the Year Award.
Burna Boy has had this similar victory and achievement for the second consecutive time as he achieved the same feat in last year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. The 'Twice as Tall' crooner beat his colleagues and fellow artistes Davido, Big Trill, Teni, Sho Madjozi, and others to win the plaque for the second time in a row.

Singer and songwriter Burna Boy has achieved so much in a few years, and 2019 was a perfect one for him, racking win after win. After landing in the music industry in 2010, he worked his way to the top in two years with back to back hits, carving a niche for himself in afrobeats and putting Nigeria on the world map. Bearing a knack for great afrobeats music and being a renowned singing prowess, Burna Boy had an amazing 2019 with his highly successful album "African Giant." He has bagged several award nominations and four awards to his name, with most notable being his Grammy Award nomination.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2020 (VGMA 21) took place on the 28th and 29th August despite several setbacks and inconveniences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially, it was scheduled for the 4th of April at the Koforidua Jackson Park, Ghana, but then got postponed indefinitely. This complied with the National directives on public gatherings due to the pandemic.
After the unusual break-in-calendar of the 21st Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Charterhouse announced a comeback as organizers and partners settled on Friday 28th and 29th August as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards festival weekend, which took place at International Conference Center, Accra, Ghana. The 21st VGMAS was supported by TV3, KPMG, DStv and was powered by Charterhouse.
