The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on Wednesday, August 26, announced that Mbagathi Way will be closed for two days. Through a public notice, KURA said the highway will be closed to through traffic from 6am to 6pm on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, to allow footbridge installation.
Motorists are advised to follow the alternative routes provided. “Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as indicated in the sketch map below and as directed by traffic marshals. We apologize for the inconvenience that may be caused as we endeavour to provide an efficient urban road network,” said KURA.
Last week, motorists using Thika Super Highway experienced heavy traffic disruptions following an announcement by Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to erect another bridge on the busy road. The authority announced a partial closure of the highway for five days to enable them to erect a steel deck.

“KeNHA pursuant to Traffic Act Cap 403 section 41 wishes to notify the general public that Thika Superhighway shall be partially closed at Garden City Mall.
“Motorists have also been asked to exercise caution navigating around the site station, follow the traffic management plan and the direction given by the traffic marshals,” read the notice.
