Speaking during an interview on Clouds Digital, Shilole stated that Uchebe would beat her up whenever he saw her with colleagues or at a public event that called for her to mingle with other people. “The first time he beat me up we had gone for an event. He got angry because he saw me catching up with some colleagues in the industry. He got angry and went home, left the car behind. When I went home, he met me with slaps. I was beaten until the dogs woke up. I forgave him and then he started making it a habit,” she recalled.
Walking away
On Wednesday, July 8, Shilole took to Instagram to post gruesome pictures of her badly bruised face apologizing to everyone that looked up to her for failing them and staying in an abusive relationship. The celebrity chef went on to advise young women going through the same situation to walk away from such relationships before it was too late.
“I am writing this with a clear mind and conscience. First, I would like to apologise to my family. I am seeking your forgiveness because I assured you that my marriage was trouble-free, while in reality, it wasn’t peaceful. I have been a victim of domestic violence and other evil acts I cannot speak about on this platform. My female fans and other women in the society, should use this social media post of mine as a strong message that says we as women should speak up when we have been reduced to punching bags and recipients of brutality, because if we don’t, we’ll end up dead someday,” read port of Shilole’s post.
Shilole’s revelation riled up netizens who in turn attacked Uchebe and comforted Shilole with encouraging messages.

“I have seen the love, the respect and the tremendous support received during this difficult time. I really appreciate your love. I appreciate those that have reached out to me to know my progress and those that have prayed for me. Concerning my wellbeing, I’m doing okay, just continuing to remain strong. These challenges will not make me give up or make me fall. It is not by my strength but God’s and the overwhelming love I have received from my fellow Tanzanians who always wish good for me. Life goes on, let's continue to support each other and grow a community that strongly condemns gender-based violence,” assured Shilole.
Uchebe moves on
A few weeks after Shilole publicly accused her husband of domestic abuse, Uchebe went on to post numerous pictures of a woman with a striking resemblance to his wife on Instagram, a move that earned him criticism from angry netizens.
