Why netizens think Diamond is dating WCB’s Zuchu

Following the wedding of Esma Khan, sister to Bongo Flava superstar Diamond Platnumz, a section of netizens are convinced that there’s more to the relationship between the ‘Quarantine’ hitmaker and WCB’s rising star Zuhura Othman alias Zuchu. During the star-studded wedding which saw Esma exchange vows with Yahya Msizwa, Diamond and Zuchu were inseparable, stoking rumours that they might be an item. According to reports, their closeness sparked debate among some invited guests; while some suggested they were dating, others dismissed the rumours saying it is disrespectful to link Diamond to Zuchu as he has a mutually respectful relationship with her mother, veteran singer Khadija Kopa

Why the rumours?

Diamond’s arrival at the wedding alongside Zuchu raised some eyebrows with netizens noting that it’s not the first event they two had arrived hand in hand as on July 18, the pair arrived holding hands at Zuchu’s concert at Milimani in Dar es Salaam. They proceeded to the red carpet for a shoot, hand in hand. During Esma’s wedding, Diamond and Zuchu were spotted dancing together, leading to speculation among fans who noted that it is unusual for a boss and their employee to be so close. Their wearing matching outfits further fuelled the rumour.

Sleeping at Diamonds’ house, shopping

A while back, a debate was sparked after it emerged that Zuchu was sleeping at Diamond’s palatial home. This prompted her mother Khadija Kopa to speak out, saying there was no ill motive behind Diamond hosting Zuchu as it was work-related. Also, in April 2020, Diamond treated Zuchu to an expensive shopping spree and replicated the gesture before her aforementioned concert.

During Zuchu’s concert in July, Diamond surprised her with a brand new Toyota Vanguard, leaving the young beauty overcome with emotions. But the WCB head honcho is known for giving his signees cars including Rayvanny, Mbosso, Lavalava and even his ex-girlfriend, Tanasha Donna.

Who is Zuchu?

Zuchu is the second female artist to be signed to WCB after Diamond’s sister, Mwanahawa Abdul alias Queen Darleen. Her mother Khadija Kopa is a veteran taarab singer and even collaborated with Diamond on the hit, 'Nasema Nawe'. Ever since her signing to WCB, Diamond has seemed to prioritize Zuchu, leading to fans warning the beauty against getting romantically involved with the singer, citing his numerous failed relationships.

She’s poised to be the next big thing in the Tanzanian music scene as veteran singer Judith Wambura alias Lady Jaydee recently attested to saying: “Zuchu is keen on learning from older musicians in the game and this attribute will take her far.”

Numerous times before, Diamond has been rumoured to be dating women he’s been spotted with only for it to emerge their relationship was professional. Recently, a Tanzanian model dismissed claims she’s dating the singer after receiving a shocking call about their planned ‘wedding’.

“We know each other because we are in the same industry, he is somebody I respect very much, he is very humble, he is a nice person and very hard working so I do respect and admire him but we are not as what people think we are (dating) let me just clarify that,” Jihan Dimack said. After breaking up with Tanasha, he released 'Jeje' and the video featured steamy scenes with a vixen and not long after, they were rumoured to be dating. It later emerged that the vixen is married and her husband was even present at the video shoot.

Time will tell whether Zuchu’s with Diamond is work-based or there’s more to it than meets the eye.
