Controversial video blogger, Edgar Obare, has been charged in a Kiambu court for unlawfully publishing private and personal details from the passport of a renowned local Youtuber Natalie Tewa. Edgar Obare, who runs a popular Instagram page that specializes in local celebrity exposes, however, denied all the allegations and was released on Sh100,000 cash bail awaiting his trial. The prosecution alleges that Obare on diverse dates between July 9 and July 13 at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya committed the said offence.

“…using your social media accounts, domain name www.bnn.ke and verified Instagram account @edgarobare, unlawfully disclosed to your online followers’ personal data to visa belonging to one Natalie Wanjiru Githinji without her consent," states the charge sheet.

Obare who has been on the radar of detectives was arrested Thursday last week in Kisumu and was later transferred to DCI headquarters for further probe over the alleged offence. His lawyer Titus Munene urged the court to release him on lenient bond terms. The blogger was being detained at the Gigiri Police Station. Kiambu Resident Magistrate Rita Oraro directed that the accused should refrain from publishing details relating to the case on his blog or on mainstream media.
