Anita Nderu opens up about seizures, says she broke her humerus in four places

Media personality Anita Nderu has since January 2020 been battling seizures. Opening up about the condition on her Instagram account, Nderu stated that she has over the period had four bouts, with the second and third being hectic, resulting in her humerus (the bone that forms the shoulder joint) being broken in four places. Nderu narrated that on undergoing surgery, the humerus was put back together using a titanium plate. “I suffer from seizures occasionally. Started this year in January, had four so far. My 2nd and 3rd one were so hectic during that I shattered my right arms humerus into four pieces which were put back together using a titanium plate by a Surgeon called Dr Awori,” said Nderu. The first seizure, she went on, occurred while she was alone. The fourth, however, caused the surgical incision made to repair the humerus fracture to break.

“It’s been over a month now, the tear in the stitches scar is because my 4th seizure (the first one where I was alone) was so bad it tore it but it is all healed now. Already did all the tests necessary, they, however, cannot find a cause so I live with it now,” she added. The former Capital FM presenter and regular on NTV’s ‘The Trend’ added that she has not regained normal arm function and is, in the meantime, medicating. “Medicating daily and taking care of myself. Still have not managed to resume normal arm function (I am right-handed so my left hand has had to make up for all those years of freeloading) but getting there.”

Setting the context for her reveal, the ex 'Teen Republik' ace highlighted that she is in a better place; a place where what mattered before and seemed monumental are bygones, as she is in a new normal, moulded by past experiences, places, time and people.”I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason (Well 90% of the time. Sometimes I think the universe is just being mean). I believe everything is building up to something. The universe has a plan and is moving all the necessary pieces to steer you towards what your fate is. Sometimes seriously things have happened to me where even I am like, what a WOW! What an actual WOW!, Mercury needs to get into the right retrograde cause damn Sis!, Is this a joke? Surely it must be, I can’t believe it! Heh, witchcraft must be real! Who sent you and why?”

She went on: “I thought minding my business and hydration was enough?, Eh! I am in awe of this level of south and such like thoughts. I may have had my doubts before (that 10%) but in the last three weeks all I feel is gratitude and I am 100% sure now that sometimes if you constantly put out to the universe what you want and you do your part, you’ll get what you’ve been asking for at least majority of the time. All those things that felt monumental and earth-shattering before don’t matter at all now, I am grateful to all the people, places, time and experiences that led me to my new normal. I must have done something right in this life because I think I received the greatest gift one could ask for. Ciara’s prayer mat is real sis.”
