Popular Nairobi West club 1824 has closed a day after Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman referenced a video of reveller’s going against COVID-19 social-distancing rules.  In the video that went viral, revellers are seen enjoying themselves at the club, defying measures allowing operation of eateries on strict adherence of social distancing.

The renovations came soon after Dr Aman warned a section of Kenyans throwing caution to the wind and resuming normal life.

“I am sure that you have seen some video clips on the social media showing people crowding entertainment spots and throwing all caution to the wind as regards to social distancing This is flirting with danger; it creates the perfect environment for infection, we must not allow ourselves to quickly recede to the old days,” he said.

The National Emergency Response Committee also condemned the revellers writing: "No one should be surprised why we have cases rising in Langata. Our young people have decided not to follow the government guidelines," he said.

"And obviously a greedy Kenyan who does not care whether people contract the disease or not."
