I had bleeding gums and strong body odor- Comedian Terence on quitting smoking

 Lawrence Macharia has recalled overcoming cigarette smoking.

Online content creator Lawrence Macharia better known as Terence Creative recently warned his fans against smoking, an addiction that he says took quite a toll on his social life and physical health.

Before quitting, the comedian said that he could smoke two to three packets of cigarettes a day. The funnyman listed the negative effects smoking had on his health and more so, his productivity and relationships.

“1. My wife rarely kissed me those days for over 5 years hivi.

2. People disrespected me and some opted to pay me with smokes instead, they would say “huyo bora umpelekee fegi, atakujenga.

3. I lost some jobs coz of my addiction.

4.  I was fooled that while smoking I was more creative.

5. I had bleeding gums and a very strong body odour.

6. Breathing difficulties, coloured teeth and many other bad things that come with smoking.

“I am glad I did quit, you too can quit, sio hard. I had smoked over 20 years,” he wrote.

In a previous interview, the father of one said he had started experimenting with cigarettes at the tender age of nine but went deeper into it aged 16. Cumulatively, Terence said that he spent close to Sh 804,000 on cigarettes.

“I had smoked for 20 years, between ages 9 - 14, I was a soft smoker but from age 16, I became a heavy smoker. I had smoked more than 166,000 cigarettes. In this, I haven't counted shisha and marijuana,” he revealed.

God helped me quit

For his one year anniversary after quitting, the comedian revealed that when he had made the decision to quit smoking, it was so hard and opted to reach out to God for guidance.  

“365 days ago I was a smoke slave, I couldn't function without smoke and I kept it to my mind that I needed to smoke to be more creative. Later on, I realized it was just a myth. I prayed and told God to free me because I am His child and He did.”
