An absent father

In a previous interview with K24, the comedian opened up on his family struggles among them, having grown up with an absent father. According to Kartelo, his old man was a notorious conman who, after conning people, would go into hiding and on different occasions ended up in jail. The last time he went missing however, he never came back and their efforts to look for him bore no fruits.

“So venye ali disappear tukatake kama kawaida mzae tukajua atarudi tu. Then one month, two months, ikaenda. One year, two years. So tuli realize after two years mzae ame disappear; kutoka hiyo time sahii ni over 10 years. So after hapo ndio search ikaanza akatafutwa kwa redio. Wazazi wake walikua na doo so walimtafuta sana but hakupatikana,” revealed Kartelo.

Grateful

Other than his mother, Kartelo is greatly indebted to Chipukeezy for giving him the platform to showcase his talent that has since changed his life and that of his family. In a previous appreciation post, the now father of one thanked Chipukeezy for his selflessness.

“From a fellow artist to a brother and a best friend. More life @chipukeezy shukran kwa kubadilisha life ya mgaza. Na kwa wale youths wengine ume inspire. I've learnt a lot from you, realness and not compromising who you are, living right, seeking God, importance ya family na cha muhimu hukunijenga samaki, ulinifunza kuzitega na sidhani kuna gift better kwa upcoming artist,” he wrote.
