Singer Vivian Wambui, simply known as Vivian, has revealed details of her past relationship with her baby daddy.

Speaking on Adelle Onyango's podcast Legally Clueless, Vivian disclosed that she was married for two years after she got her firstborn child with a DJ.

“I was in my early 20s and optimistic about life. I got a baby and lived with the guy for two years then we broke up. Picking up the role of a wife and having a relationship that was immature and not knowing how to handle issues was so hard,” she said.

“He was a good and supportive man but because we did not have a good foundation, we ended up breaking up.”

After they parted ways, the 'Chum Chum' hitmaker said she had to do odd jobs to raise her daughter, Natalie.

“I have raised my daughter alone and I have never taken her to anyone to raise her, I have always been with her. I said no to some events just because I did not have anyone to leave her with,” she said.

She further disclosed that her first song was a hustle and it took six months for it to be released. "I ended up getting an opportunity to host karaoke to get extra money," she said.

According to the singer, she had to learn the hard way in the music industry as she tried to earn a living from her music.

"When you release a song and expect money to flow, then you will fail. Making music is one part and making money from it is another thing. I had to learn to survive in this industry."

Vivian, who is married and raising a blended family with comedian Sam West, confessed that it has not been easy bringing up such a union.

Speaking to Dr Kingori on the Wicked Edition three months ago, the lovely couple confessed that it was not easy when they introduced their respective children from previous relationships to each other.

Sam West acknowledged that the introduction of a new child in a family can be stressful and depressing especially if not done right as they have to shift and adapt to the new reality.

“You’ve gotten into a new relationship; you’ve met a new person, sasa, you have to tell your kid this is your new step mum. Of course, it’s depressing to the child actually it's very stressing because now you have to allow the child to mourn the death of the previous relationship and now you’re introducing the child to a new relationship,” Sam said.

She couldn’t agree more as she added that introducing a new man to a kid takes time and dedication.

The couple went ahead to disclose that they accepted each other’s kids and were raising them with genuine unconditional love without creating a rift between their children.

"It’s about the relationship with your partner. When you’re coming together, you were not in love with the kids, you were in love with your partner,” said Sam.
