In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to rescue one of their own, the players will have to brave parts unknown from arid deserts to snowy mountains, to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Thumbs up:
The whole story is a good follow up from the Welcome to the Jungle Jumanji-2 film, with some more actors (Danny DeVito and Danny Glover). The film also brought more jokes, a fresh look at the existing characters and plenty of new locations and thus, much more adventures. The acting is also deceptively simple but decidedly fantastic, fully immersing you in the idea that these major stars are actually four teenagers and two old men.
Thumbs down:
The action is visually impressive, especially in 3D, but heavily reliant on CGI, lacking a sense of realism with little in the way of genuine excitement or thrills to be had. At no point do we feel that the characters are in any real peril, especially given that each of them have three lives to waste, which we all know will be more than enough for them to complete the task at hand.
Verdict:
A decent sequel you can enjoy with your family.
