Will Smith has opened up about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith's close bond with late rapper Tupac Shakur.

The 51-year-old Hollywood actor has admitted that he was "jealous" of Jada and Tupac's relationship and regretted not getting to know the rapper better, who died after being shot.

Will, who was a rapper himself before becoming an award-winning actor, was speaking on Power 105's The Breakfast Club, as he promoted Bad Boys for Life alongside co-star Martin Lawrence.

The show's host, Charlamagne tha God, asked Will if he felt jealous over Jada's 'love' for Tupac, to which he replied: "F*** yeah."

Will went on to add: "That was in the early days. That was a big regret for me, too, because I could never open up to interact with Pac."

Jada and Tupac had met during their teenage years at The Baltimore School for the Arts.

They became instant friends and were still in constant contact when Jada hooked up with Will.

Will revealed: "They never had a sexual relationship, but now they had come into that age where that was a possibility, and Jada was with me, so Pac had a little thing on that."

Jada admitted in a 2015 interview with Howard Stern that while she was not 'physically attracted' to Tupac, she said they did share a kiss.

She did go on to describe it as the "most disgusting kiss" they had both ever had.

Jada continued: "When you have two young people that have very strong feelings, but there was no physical chemistry between us at all, and it wasn’t even just for me, It was him too.

"There was a time when I was like, ‘Just kiss me! Let’s just see how this goes.

"And when I tell you it had to be the most disgusting kiss for us both. The only way I can put it is, the higher power just did not want that."

Will and Jada met on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1994 before marrying three years later.

Tupac was killed after a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas during 1996.

Will said: "She just loved him. He was the image of perfection, but she was with the ‘Fresh Prince,’ so it was, like, we were in the room together a couple of times, I couldn’t speak to him.

"He wasn’t going to speak to me if I wasn’t going to speak to him.”

Jada tried to convince Will to 'loosen up' around Tupac and Will said that he wished that he had been different in the rapper's presence.

Will admitted: "That was a huge regret of mine, I couldn’t handle it. I was the soft rapper from Philly and he was Pac.

“I was deeply, deeply insecure and I wasn’t man enough to handle that relationship.”
