Safaricom customers will no longer have to worry about expiring data bundles following the company’s move of doing away with the expiration date.
In celebrating 19 years in Kenya, Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph also released a statement on the company’s commitment to serve Kenyans better.

“Birthdays are great opportunities for renewal and fresh starts and also allow me, as your recently appointed CEO TO take a fresh look at how we can serve you and what we can do to be of better service to you.
“We have reviewed all of our products and services, looked at the many customer touchpoints, and examined the customer feedback surveys, good and bad, about how we serve you.
“Today we are making a commitment to being simple, transparent and honest,” the stament read in part.
Complaint
The move comes just days after Nation reported that a lawyer had filed a complaint with the Communications and Multimedia Appeals Tribunal against Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom Kenya.

In his argument, Adrian Kamotho said that the companies are illegally depriving users unused data bundles through the data expiry system.
Kamotho further argued that requiring customers to use their data bundles within a certain period is unreasonable citing certain reasons including poor network coverage in some parts of the country.
According to Kamotho, customers are entitled to the bundles they purchase as long as their SIM cards remain active.
