Vladimir Putin posed on a rocky hilltop as he took his annual hike through the Siberian Mountains ahead of his birthday.
The Russian president turned 67 today and was reportedly joined by some of his top officials including his Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu for a period of rest and relaxation, Russia Beyond reports.
Putin was pictured climbing the hills with a hiking pole in the vast Taiga forest.
Another photo shows him crouched down among some trees.
The president appeared well equipped with khaki hiking gear and a hat.
Putin is renowned for his adventures and was pictured topless on horseback in 2009, according to the Daily Mail.
This time, he and Shoigu were said to have made a campfire and ate while looking out onto the Yenisei River.
He reportedly enjoyed searching for mushrooms and berries as he took in the sights with a pair of binoculars.
They are believed to have climbed up to 6,500 ft.
Putin's spokesman said the president was going to spend his birthday "in the great outdoors with his family and close friends," local reports said.
