Governor Cyprian Awiti has returned to the county after being away for two months.
The governor took sick leave on June 27 to go for treatment.
After resuming office yesterday, Mr Awiti gave a stern warning to his county executive committee (CEC) members, accusing them of sleeping on the job while he was away.
“We have no room for lazy ministers. I want to leave a legacy but this can only be achieved if all my CECs work hard,” said Awiti.
“Time has come for every minister to ensure the impact of their department is felt on the ground through implementation of development projects that transform people's lives.”
The governor also asked county residents to take part in the census exercise.
