African Union (AU) High Representative for Infrastructure Development envoy Raila Odinga on Thursday, August 31, excited Kenyans on social media after sharing photos of his granddaughter's sports day.

Clad in a red cap emblazoned with a Kenyan flag, marching shirt and dark brown Khaki pants, Odinga was at ease without the usual entourage and bevvy of security as he jubilantly cheered at the terraces of the undisclosed school.

“It was a welcome change from the usual office rounds to attend my granddaughter's sports day this morning. Apart from the physical benefits, sports also inculcates the spirit of teamwork in our young as they grow up,” read the post from the opposition leader’s page.

“You are lucky to enjoy the company of your grandkids. Something a grandparent would cherish,” wrote Kamasasa Amos Ephraim Omwami.

While Carol Karendi Alhajj added, “It is good to attend such functions Baba than attending Harambee's and donating looted money. Live long Enigma.”

Mwongera Muthamia, on the other hand, noted, “You are not only a great leader but great grandfather. Seen your grandchildren grow is what many parents cherish.”

Tony Ojee summed the over 350 messages of goodwill up.

"No better way to enjoy life than this."
