ASAP Rocky has been charged with aggravated assault in Sweden.
The US rapper will remain in custody after being charged over his alleged involvement in a street brawl, the prosecutor's office said on Thursday.
The 30-year-old performer, producer and model from Harlem, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been detained since July 3 along with two members of his entourage in connection with a fight in a Stockholm city-centre on June 30.
"I have today commenced criminal proceedings against the three individuals suspected of assault causing actual bodily harm, having come to the conclusion that the events in question constitute a crime despite claims of self-defence and provocation," Public Prosecutor Daniel Suneson said.
Yesterday, the rapper's mother said she felt "sick" with fear over him being in a Swedish jail.
Renee Black has spoken out on his imprisonment, revealing her son is finding it hard behind bars.
"He was just telling me that he wasn't really eating properly, you know," she told Swedish newspaper Expressen. "He can't wait to get back into the gym."
When asked how she felt about the possibility he could stand trial, a visibly emotional Renee added that she couldn't even think about it.
When asked how she felt about Sweden's decision to continue detaining her son, she bit her tongue, and replied: "I don't wanna say it, I really don't.
"I don't wanna rock any boats, I don't wanna cause any trouble, but then again that's my son.
"I want him to be released and I plead that he can come home."
